Motorola senior director for software product management David Schuster took to Google+ a couple of weeks ago to discuss the status of the Moto X Pure Edition Android Marshmallow update, stating that a formal "soak test" had not yet started. A soak test is a short testing period where an Android update is rolled out to a small number of devices to examine performance and stability ahead of the full rollout.
Though the Moto X Pure is not at this stage yet, Schuster did say that Motorola had begun an even smaller trial, and that the full soak test will arrive following feedback from this initial test.
Assuming there were no problems, the soak test should arrive any day now, and Marshmallow will roll out to all devices shortly after that (once it is approved by individual carriers). It could still be a few weeks from dropping onto your device, but the Motorola Moto X Pure Edition is closer to getting Android 6.0 than many of its competitors right now.
