A critical government portal for corporate filings, has slowed down sharply after its IT vendor Infosys released a new version on March 27. The portal, under the ministry of corporate affairs MCA), is the gateway for filing statutory information online with the Registrar of Companies (RoC). It is widely accessed by lenders, chartered accountants (CAs) and shareholders.
Launched in 2006, the portal was managed by TCS till 2013 after which Infosys took over. Ever since, users have experienced various operational glitches. When the portal was crippled TCS was brought back to work along with Infosys.
Infosys released an upgrade on March 27 rendering multiple functions redundant. "The earlier system was Java-based and would have crashed anytime. When you deploy a system of this magnitude, teething issues are bound to happen," said a ministry official. |
